How to make a covered Pioneer wagon
(by Zanne)

I have made them in the past from a child wagon.

  1. I just taped 3 pieces of wood straight up on the sides or the wagon.
  2. Then used wire hangers bent into a curve going from the top of one piece of wood to the top of the other piece of wood on the other side of the wagon.
  3. Cover the whole thing with a sheet or old crib sheet and you have a resemblance of a covered wagon.
Karlene:
We made covered wagons for an activity day a few years ago by getting inexpensive hula hoops ($1 from the dollar store) making one cut in them.
  1. Spread them apart and tape with duct tape to chairs placed seat to seat.
  2. We used four chairs and two hula hoops for one wagon.
  3. This we covered with a white sheet.
  4. We also made cardboard wheels (from a large box) to place by the sides of the "wagons."
