Repentance is like draining a stagnant pond (unknown) |
Equipment Needed: A bucket
Scripture Reference: Isaiah 1:16
Activity and Application:
Show the bucket. Tell the following story:
There is an ancient Chinese proverb which
purports to correctly determine
the sanity of an individual. Picture this
mountain with a stream of water
flowing into a stagnant pond. It is stagnant
because there is no outlet,
and there is no way to make one because
the pond is surrounded by the
mountains. You are given a bucket and
asked to commence to drain the pond.
What would be your first step? If the first
step is to dam the inflow to
the pond, you are judged sane. If you
ignore the inflow and try to empty
the pond bucket by bucket, you are designated
insane.
