I attended an area Primary meeting, the
2 members from the General Primary Board presented a Sharing Time on The
6 B's.
Here is my notes:
*Resources Feb. 2001 Friend, Article about the 6 B's. Pictures from Primary 1, 2,& 3 manuals. (*All Church Approved)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
She had printed up a scripture and glued
it to the back of the picture.
Also, on a bulletin board, she had each
of the B's printed up on papers.
The object was to match the picture/scripture
with the "B" that it matched! (This is a matching game!)
As you match them, hang each picture next
to it's match on the bulletin board. She also had a song to go with each
one. We sang the song after the match was made from the picture/scripture
to one of the 6 B's! So, we were able to "reinforce" the gospel principle
being taught with music.
Pass out the pictures before Sharing Time
to 6 children.
(In my ward we usually hide things under
their chairs, so they look and whoever finds it is surprised! You could
divide the pictures up and give 1 to each class, too.)
prayer
gave me a Temple"
It Matches: BE CLEAN
Picture: Baptism
Scripture: Due. 6:18
Song: "Stand For
The Right"
It Matches: BE TRUE
Picture: Primary Teacher Teaching Children
Scripture: D & C 112: 10
Song: "Teach me
to walk in the light "
It Matches: "BE HUMBLE"
Picture: Little girl praying
Scripture: Psalms 55:16
Song: "I Pray in
Faith"
It Matches : BE PRAYERFUL
After completing the matching game, she had the pianist play the last 2 lines of "Stand for The Right" and we sang along.
While we sang, she walked around the room and at the end of the song, stopped and whoever she stopped by, she called on them to give an example of something they could do to live the 6 B's. (You could do this as many times as you wanted)
Some examples given were:
1. I told me friends that I couldn't play
on Sunday, because I want to keep the Sabbath day holy.
2. I went to a Party and they were showing
a movie that made me uncomfortable and had a rating that I knew was not
good, so I told them I didn't want to watch it.
3. I went to the store one day and the
cashier gave me back too much change and so I took it back in to her when
I realized it, ETC.
The kids can think of anything that they
can do or have done to help them live the 6 B's!
At the conclusion, she said that if you
had time you could hand out papers and crayons and have the children draw
a picture about one of the 6 B's, or all of them.
Encourage them to take it home and share with their family what they have learned that day. This was strongly emphasized! As was Music. Music teaches the Gospel, it's powerful and it reinforces Gospel Principles!
