PEACE QUILT

This is an idea for an integrated share time for the month of February. Please understand that if done as written it would not take up the entire time...but these are just ideas...

Have any of you ever helped make a quilt?

Usually you make quilts for someone you love. Today we are going to see how Heavenly Father made the gospel like a quilt because He loves us so much.

What is the first thing a quilt does for us? It keeps us warm. I get a warm feeling when I think of what our Savior did for me because He loves me. (WARMTH)

Sometimes quilts are called comforters. Heavenly Father sent us a comforter.

Do you know who it is? Yes, the Holy Ghost is called the comforter. His Spirit can make us feel better when we are sad. (COMFORT)

Quilts are made of pieces. But that's different than the peace we feel when we are living the gospel. (PEACE)

Have you ever been scared in your bed and pulled the covers over your head?

It's silly to think the blanket will protect you, but it just feels safer. There's a feeling of safety that comes from knowing Heavenly Father and Jesus are watching over us. (SAFETY)

One more thing quilts make me feel is quiet. Like the feeling I get when I walk in the church and feel the quiet spirit of reverence. (QUIET)

(Have quilt blocks made out of paper with designs or use actual quilt blocks. On each quilt block have one of the words written on it...WARMTH, COMFORT, PEACE, BELONGING, SAFETY, QUIET. As you prepare at home, put these pieces together, but have a space in the middle where there is no quilt block and it is in the shape of a heart. After the quilt is put together in share time put the letters LOVE in the open space. Have the children put the quilt together as you sing the songs in share time.)
