The Gospel in Action letter to parents (by Michelle Larsen) |
Dear Parent,
The Gospel in Action program is a personal improvement program for children in primary from 8 to 11 years of age. It's purpose is to encourage boys and girls to practice living gospel principles.
Each boy/girl will choose goals in the five areas of the Gospel in Action Program: (1) Personal, (2) Family, (3) Church, (4) Community, and (5) Articles of Faith. He/she may work to complete these goals alone or with family, friends or in some cases, the Primary class. Your child's teacher will give suggestions and help him/her during the year. The Articles of Faith are put to music in the Children's songbook. This may help your child learn them more easily. We will be working on some of them in Primary, but it will help your child if he/she works on these at home also.
The gospel in Action card is attached; it gives a description of the program and lists guidelines for setting goals and completing activities. Your child should keep this card at home in a safe place.
The award is earned after one goal is completed in each of the five areas. The Bishop will present the award during Sacrament Meeting. This award is designed to remind those who receive it to continue living the gospel. You will be notified when your son/daughter will receive this award.
As Primary leaders and teachers, we are grateful to have your child as a part of our Primary, and we want to help you to make the Gospel in Action experience successful and meaningful to your child.
Sincerely,
