| Egg carton game (by Keri Beauchamp, West Sacramento, CA) |
I have a egg carton, the kind that doesn't have any holes in it so nothing can fall out. In the bottom of each egg cup, I have colored a circle. We have the 12 egg carton and used 4 colors, so 3 of each...Then you need a marble and cotton balls! Put the marble in the egg carton and shut it. Have a child shake it (not too hard), and then open to see what color they landed on. Then place a cotton ball in that hole so it is not chosen again. The child is then asked a question from the category I placed with that color. Boy, I hope this makes sense.
We will be dividing into 2 teams and playing against each other--I think I actually might use the football field idea posted earlier....So if the team that is asked a question gets it right, they get to move forward on yardage and closer to making a goal. If they get is wrong, they just stay there. I don't like to make the primary kids lose space, I think it makes it more competitive. ANyway, then the next team gets a question by
shaking the marble in the egg carton and getting a color.....and on and on until someone wins and each egg cup has been used and has a cotton ball in it.
These are the colors I used, the categories, and the questions. I will start with the jr. primary questions. I added a few extra in case we need more. I am putting each question on a separate slip of paper, and putting each category of questions in little piles so the kids can draw the question their team will answer...
