| Genealogy: Pedigree chart (by Jenny) |
Playing dress up was a HUGE succsess... the Sr. Primary was begging to do the whole activity all over again!
The Jrs. just loved dressing up, but in Sr's. they really got into everything.
I picked a child to be the kid on the pedigree chart, and
from there on out, they picked who was their mom and dad.
In case anyone plans to do this activity too, this is what I ended up using for
all my people to dress them up, and what we sang:
Child:
I had a Mickey Mouse hat with a twirly thing on top and a soft squishy
"baby-type" ball to hold
Sing: "I Am A Child of God"
Mom:
Apron to wear, baby doll to hold
Sing: "Mother, I Love You"
Dad:
Suit coat to wear, a newspaper and remote control to hold...
Sing: "Fathers"
Grandpa #1:
An old "fishing style" hat, and a golf club
Grandma #1
A floppy straw hat with a scarf tied across the top, gardening tools to hold
Sing: "Truth From Elijah"
Grandpa #2
Reading glasses (found them in a set of two at the dollar store pretty cheap
after all!) and a cane
Grandma #2
She sat on a chair on her spot on the pedigree chart, cause she was "so old"...I
wrapped an afgan around her (that my grandma made) to "keep her warm"
as she read an old book with her reading glasses on.
Sing: "Hearts of the Children" (And we
had the "child" standing on the chart turn to face his "grandparents"
as we sang).
Then we looked at our written chart on the chalkboard (the
kids were standing on a masking tape chart on the floor in their matching spots)
and discussed how their was still more ancestors to find for this chart than
what we filled in, but this was a good start to doing our family history work.
Then we sang "Family History-I am Doing It."
