Article of Faith # 6 |
I taught this one in combination with the music leader teaching the 6th AOF song and just did it in pieces.
"We believe in the same organization that existed
in the primitive church"
Here I showed the picture of Christ ordaining the twelve apostles,
and showed another picture of a leader being ordained by the laying on of
hands.
I explained that Jesus began the Church of Jesus Christ of EARLY day Saints,
which we sometimes call the primitive church. Because we live in the
latter, or later days, we are the Latter day Saints.
I listed out the various members of the church
(apostles, prophets, etc.)
I tried to show as many pictures from our time and Bible times to show that
Christ had 12 apostles, as do we. Christ had prophets (like John the
Baptist), and so on.
Then I put one picture representing each topic on the board and
wrote the words on the chalkboard. As I called the kids up, they chose a
picture and matched it to the appropriate word.
Simple, but it worked. What was important to me was that the children
understand that our church is the same as Christ's church.
