Plan
of Salvation
(by Jana, St. George Ut) |
Just last Sunday I did a Singing Time in Primary on the
Plan of Salvation that I also sent home as a hand-out for the children
to share at FHE. It is based on the Plan of Salvation diagram in the Friend
magazine, March 1994, page 14. Sharing Time- The Plan of Salvation Offers Me Peace
The diagram includes shapes to insert in spaces representing the Plan.
I enlarged my Plan of Salvation picture and laminated it,
colored the diagram pieces and laminated them and put a song on the back of
each piece.
Then I hid each piece under the chairs in the room
before the children came in.
The songs I listed are:
Pre-earth life -- I Lived in Heaven, pg. 4
Birth -- I Am a Child of God, pg. 2
Earth life -- I Know My Father Lives, pg. 5
Death -- Families Can Be Together Forever,
pg. 188
Spirit World -- Genealogy, I Am Doing It,
pg. 94
Resurrection and Final Judgment -- The Lord
Gave Me A Temple
(especially verse 2), pg. 153
Celestial Kingdom -- I Will Be Valiant, pg.
162
Terrestrial Kindgon -- Choose The Right Way,
pg. 160
Telstial Kingdom -- Hum Your Favorite Hymn,
pg. 152
There is also a scripture listed under each space which
would be great to look up with the senior primary children.
I started by asking them if they knew where they came from
before they were here on earth - of course they knew they lived in heaven with
Heavenly Father. Then I asked them why they were here on earth - to get a body
and learn to choose the right. Next question, where will you go after you die
- back to Heaven to live with our families and Heavenly Father. I said, "WOW!
You already know more than most people on the earth! Some people don't even
know where they came from, why they're here on earth or where they will go
when they die. That is so awesome that Heavenly Father has blessed us to know
His Plan of Salvation, or plan of HAPPINESS!"
Then look up the scripture if you have time, have the child
with the matching piece under their chair come up and tell what the song is,
attach the illustration piece that fits that space and sing the song.
You may need to eliminate some songs if your young children
would lose interest more quickly or you don't have much time.
For the hand-out to send home with the children for FHE it
was just one sheet of regular sized paper. I listed the songs right on the
blank space of the diagram. I suggested they color the diagram pieces and cut
them out and then show their family how Heavenly Father's Plan of Salvation
works.
Clear as mud? Have fun with it!
