My
Obeying Parents
(by Teena Long) |
I'm going to have a sack/bag filled with sunblock, soap,
toothpaste, goggles, boots, umbrella, sunglasses, cap/hat, coat, and glove.
I will choose children, one at a time, to take an item
from the bag and we will discuss what kind of protection it provides.
Then I will ask if there is a product or piece of clothing
that can protect us from doing wrong (no). There is nothing we can rub on
ourselves or wear that would protect us from doing wrong.
Then I will discuss that we DO, however, actually have some
protection against doing wrong, and that is obeying our parents.
Briefly discuss other people we should obey (church leaders,
school teachers, policemen, etc). but focus on parents.
Then I am going to have paper hearts cut out with each
having a brief situation/case study written on it. They will be face down, and
if time allows, I will have the children, one at a time, pick a heart and we
will discuss the situation. If it is an example of obeying your parents, I
will add it to a posterboard that has a house in the
middle. If it is an example of NOT obeying your parents, I
will toss it into the trash can.
