Choose the Right" Bean Bag
Toss
(by Monica Fawson) |
T this was a success, and the kids were pretty reverent
during it, so I thought I'd pass it on. It's also integrated for those of
you who want to do that.
There will be colored papers face down on the floor at
the front of the room in a grid of four sheets across and four sheets down.
Presentation:
Have a child come to the front and toss the beanbag
toward the grid. Have them answer the question on the paper the beanbag
lands on. After they complete the activity remove that paper from the grid.
Repeat with another child until all twelve activities have been completed.
- Look at Picture 311, GAK The Anti-Nephi-Lehi?s.
Review the story. How were the Anti-Nephi-Lehi's honest? (They kept
their covenants not to fight.) They were taught to walk in the ways of
the Lord, and because of that they wanted to always walk in His light. TEACH
ME TO WALK IN THE LIGHT 177
- Where can we find God's words for us? (Scriptures.)
- How much tithing would you pay if you earned
$1.00? (10?.)
- When is it appropriate to use Heavenly Father and
Jesus Christ's names? (When praying, when talking about them reverently,
when learning about them in church or at home, etc.) When is it NOT
appropriate? (When we are angry or excited, etc.) We believe in Christ
and because of that we want to show reverence for His name. We would not
like it if someone used our name in anger or in an unkind way. So it is
with Jesus Christ. I BELIEVE IN CHRIST 134
- Look at Picture 305, GAK Enos prays. Tell what it
is about. (Enos Praying.) A CHILD?S PRAYER 12
- Name three times you could pray. (Bedtime,
morning, church, meals, when need help, when want to say thanks, etc.)
Praying is a part of God?s plan for us. We made the choice to come to
Earth and ?seek for God?s light to direct [us] from birth.? Prayer is
one way we can do that. I WILL FOLLOW GOD?S PLAN 164
- Show a tithing slip and envelope. What are these
used for? (Paying tithing.) Who do you give tithing to? (Bishop.)
- Fill in the blanks. "Thou shalt not take the
_______ of the ________ in vain." Exodus 20:7. (Name, Lord)
- If you really like a toy at the store, is it all
right to take it home with you without paying for it? (When we are
baptized we become accountable for the choices we make. Like it says in
the song, ?I want to make my life as clean as Earth right after rain. I
want to do the best I can, and live with God again.?) WHEN I AM BAPTIZED
103
- Tell what "not bear false witness" means. Exodus
20:16. (Not lie.) The Holy Ghost is with us when we do what is right. If
we have temptations, like telling a lie, the Holy Ghost can prompt us to
make the right choice, telling the truth. THE HOLY GHOST 105
- Name something tithing is used for. (Constructing
temples, chapels, and other buildings, providing operating funds for the
Church, funding the missionary program, preparing materials used in
Church classes and organizations, temple work, family history, and
education.) Paying your tithing takes faith. As we follow the Lord?s
commandments in faith, not only will our lives be blessed, but other?s
lives will be blessed also. I?LL FOLLOW HIM IN FAITH (Friend)
- Look at Picture 402, GAK Joseph Smith Seeks
Wisdom. Tell what it is about. (Joseph Smith reading the scriptures.)
THE PRIESTHOOD IS RESTORED 89
Praying, reading the scriptures, paying tithing, being
honest, and using Heavenly Father's name reverently are all ways we can
choose the right. I know that as we keep the commandments and follow God?s
plan for us that we can be happy here on Earth. Heavenly Father wants us to
do our best because he loves us and he wants us to be happy. I know that he
is pleased when you make good choices. I say these things in the name of
Jesus Christ, Amen.
