Saturday (by Wendy Pray) |
Have some simple props so the children can pantomime the song while you sing. Like:
a calendar w/Saturday circled;
a calendar w/Sunday circled;
feather duster or mop for "clean the house";
brown paper grocery bag for "shop at the store";
a calendar w/Monday circled;
a shirt for "wash our clothes" ~ with a washboard if you have one
a shoe-shine brush for "shine our shoes";
have someone shake their finger for "get the work done";
fingernail clippers for "trim our nails";
"shampoo our hair"; (just pretend )
a calendar w/Sunday circled (or have "Sunday" run around from their previous position while the children are singing)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Have your pianist play the song softly while you are preparing, choosing helpers, giving instructions, and telling/singing the words to the songs. That will give them just a little head-start on the melodies. If the melody's really tricky (ie: the 13th Article of Faith), then you might want to have them hum the song first.
