Balloons popping
by Karrie |
1. I take the small water bomb ballons
and blow them up.
2. Then I draw a picture on the balloons that represents
words or phrases from the song we are going to learn.
I have a small primary, about 14 kids if
all are there, so I try to make enough so each child will have a
chance to participate.
3. I tape the balloons on to a board and tell the kids
what each picture represents.
4. We sing each line as we talk about what the picture
means. I am not an artist, so they love to see what the
pictures will look like.
5. After we have gone through the song a couple of times I
tell them I will look for the person who is being the
most reverent and singing well.
6. Then I choose a child to come up and pop any balloon
they chose.
Because the balloons are small, they
don't make a large popping noise. After they know the song better I
might chose two children to come and
so it is more challenging. Sometimes after I chose the first child I
might ask them to stay up and help
decide who will come up next.
I know some primaries are pretty sticky on what things
you can do and what is considered "reverent", but I have used this idea many
times and it is by far my primary kids favorite thing to do! They beg to do
this all the time. They also are reverent and
sing well because they want to get up there and pop the picture they choose.
It is not loud as some might think because the balloons are those really
small ones.
And it is cheap cause you get hundreds of those
balloons in one package.
