A testimony is a spiritual witness given by the Holy Ghost

Read Moroni 10:4–5 and explain that the Holy Ghost helps us know what is true.

Teach the children that our five fingers can remind us of things the Holy Ghost bears witness of:

  1. God is our Father in Heaven;
  2. Jesus Christ is His Son and is our Savior;
  3. Joseph Smith is a prophet of God, and the Book of Mormon, which he translated by the gift and power of God, is true;
  4. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the Lord’s Church;
  5. We have a living prophet on the earth today.

Discuss how these five statements form the foundation of a testimony. Have the children trace one of their hands on a paper and write or draw pictures of the five things on the fingers.

Sing the first verse of “The Holy Ghost” (CS, 105).
