Junior Sharing Time - I added to the Bishop's shoes idea by creating
a introductory poem and a poem for each item. We set an extra pair
of the Bishop's shoes on a table, had the kids come up to take items from
a bag, and I read each poem.
Items needed:
Dear Bishop,
We know that you'll be leaving soon It makes us feel quite ill
For when it's time for you to go You'll leave big shoes to fill.
And just to say a word of thanks, we'd like to tell you now
all the things you've done for us In the best way we know how.
Kleenex -
Sometimes we make the Bishop cry
when we forget to chose the right.
So keep these near and in plain sight
It's better than using your tie!
Light bulb -
The Bishop has to think a lot
and pray to know what's right
to help our ward work properly
and share with us God's light.
Rubber band -
As flexible as a rubber band,
The Bishop's time must be.
We need him when the sun is bright
And sometimes through the night.
Treat -
The Bishop is kind and sweet
He likes each child he meets
He smiles so big when he greets
We thank you with these treats!
Small water bottle -
I must prepare for my baptismal day
The Bishop helps me on my way.
He'll interview me when I'm eight,
Then lead me through the narrow gate.
Toothbrush -
The Bishop's smile
Must stretch a mile
Even when he's tired and low
He lifts us with his constant glow
For that is his job, you know.
Ruler -
The Bishop must keep track
of the spiritual things we lack
So he measures the progress we've made
And watches to see us grow.
This job he wouldn't trade,
Although at times we're slow.
Eraser -
Sometimes I make a big mistake
And must confess my sin.
To the Bishop, my wrongs I take
Through repentance, I'm clean again.
Glue -
The Bishop is the glue
Who knows just what to do.
He helps us all to get along
By forming bonds to make us strong.
Heart -
The Bishop's heart could fill the world
Believe me, it is true
You'll know if you watch carefully,
There's nothing he won't do.
