"Boys
Who Became Prophets."
(by

Today in Sharing Time we played Prophet
Bingo. Each child had a Bingo card. (I made the cards on my computer
using clip art. (I used Inspirational Images from Bright Impressions.)
-
Before I would hold up a picture of the prophet
(so they could put their marker on it), I would give them a clue about
the prophet.
-
All of the information (included at the bottom
of this e-mail) listed below the prophets' names is a clue (their testimony,
a song or information about their life).
-
I would let the children guess who they thought
the prophet was.
-
Once they guessed the correct prophet (or
I told them who it was because they couldn't figure it out), I would hold
up the picture of the prophet and play their testimony from the videotape
"Testimonies of the Prophets."
The children loved it (especially Senior Primary)!
It went over better than I expected. The only problem was time constraints.
We only had time to get through 6 prophets. You could probably get through
more if you only played the game, but I also talked to them about what
a testimony is & played a clip from the video tape "President Hinckley--a
Man of Integrity." (I showed the part about the stake priesthood meeting
where he said he gained a testimony of Joseph Smith.)
-
I've gathered the following facts about the
prophets. I tried to include facts about the prophets' childhood. (My main
source was "The Lord Needed a Prophet by Susan Arrington Madsen.)
-
The testimonies (on video) referred to are
from the video tape "Testimonies of the Prophets." I purchased the tape
from the Distribution Center. The testimony listed for each prophet is
from the November 2000 friend.
