(Put up picture of the Last Supper 62174)
Jesus and his apostles gathered together in an upper room to observe
the Feast of the Passover. And as they did eat, Jesus took bread and blessed
it, and brake it, and gave to them, and said, Take it, and eat. Behold,
this is for you to do in remembrance of my body; for as oft as ye do this
ye will remember this hour that I was with you. And he took the cup, and
when he had given thanks, he gave it to them; and they all drank of it.
And he said unto them, this is in remembrance of my blood which is shed
for many, and the new testament which I give unto you; for of me ye shall
bear record unto all the world. And as oft as ye do this ordinance, ye
will remember me in this hour that I was with you and drank with you of
this cup. (JST Mark 14-20-24) This was the first sacrament. (Take out tin
pie plate and cup or chalis ) Jesus and his apostles would have used a
plate and chalis or cup similar to these. There were only 13 people at
the last supper. There are many members to pass the sacrament to each week
in our ward. (Take out sacrament trays) We have sacrament trays to help
members of the priesthood make sure that everyone has the chance to partake
of the sacrament every Sunday.
SONG: "THE SACRAMENT" (pg 72 vs 1)
(Put up picture of Jesus Praying in Gethsamane 62175)
After celebrating the Feast of the Passover in Jerusalem Jesus and
his disciples went to the garden of Gethsemane where Jesus left them and
went to pray to Father in Heaven. He knew that to fulfill Heavenly Father's
Plan He would have to endure great suffering for the sins of every man.
He also knew that this sacrifice had to happen to make it possible for
all men to be forgiven of their sins when they repented, and someday return
to live with Heavenly Father. Jesus chose to die to atone for all of our
sins. This was a great gift of love. The sacrament is a reminder that Jesus
died for us so that we can be forgiven of our sins and return to live with
Heavenly Father. It is the most important and sacred part of our Sacrament
meeting. By being reverent and thinking about Jesus during the sacrament
our thoughts and actions show him how much we love him and appreciate his
sacrifice for our sins.
SONG: "LOVE ONE ANOTHER" (pg 136)
Before the Feast of the Passover "one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went into the chief priests, And said unto them, What will ye give me, and I will deliver him (meaning Jesus) unto you? And they covenanted with him for thirty pieces of silver. (Bring out 30 dimes) And from that time he sought opportunity to betray him." Matt 26:13-16, This fulfilled the prophecy in Zechariah 11:12-14, that Jesus would be sold for 30 pieces of silver.

Jesus had finished praying in the garden of Gethsamane and returned
to the spot where he had asked his disciples to wait for him. They were
asleep. He awakened his disciples and said "Rise up, let us go; lo, he
that betrayeth me is at hand. And immediately, while he yet spake, cometh
Judas, one of the twelve, and with him a great multitude with swords and
staves, from the chief priests and the scribes and the elders. And he that
betrayed him had given them a token, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that
same is he; take him, and lead him away safely. And as soon as he was come,
he goeth straightway to him, and saith, Master, master; and kissed him.
And they laid their hands on him and took him. (Mark 14:42-46) "When the
morning was come, all the chief priest and elders of the people took counsel
against Jesus to put him to death: Then did they spit in his face and buffetted
him; and others smote him with the palms of their hands. (Show knotted
twine) And when they had bound him, they led him away, and delivered him
to Pontius Pilate the governor."( Matt. 27:1-2)

After speaking to Jesus Pilate knew that Jesus was a just man and wanted
to let him go. This made the crowd of people angry and they cried "Crucify
Him, Crucify Him". (Bring out Bowl of Water and Piece of Soap) " And the
Governor said, Why, what evil hath he done? But they cried out the more,
saying, Let him be crucified. When Pilate saw that he could prevail nothing,
but that rather a tumult was made, he took water, and washed his hands
before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood to this just person:
see ye to it. Then released he Barabbas unto them: and when he had scourged
Jesus, he delivered him to be crucified." (Matt 27:23-26)
(Put up Picture of Jesus in Thorny Crown & Robe)
"Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the common hall,
and gathered unto him the whole band of soldiers. (Show piece of red felt

his head, (show twig) and reed in his right hand: and they bowed the knee
before him, and mocked him, say, Hail, King of the Jews! And after that
they had mocked him, they took the robe off from him and put his own raiment
on him, and lead him away to crucify him" (Matt 27:27-31)
(Picture Christ bearing Cross?) (Show cross made of popcycle sticks

"And he bearing his cross went forth into a place called the place
of a skull, which is called in the Hebrew Golgotha: Where they Crucified
him, and two other with him, on either side one, and Jesus in the midst.
And Pilate wrote a title, and put it on the cross. And the writing was,
JESUS OF NAZARETH THE KING OF THE JEWS." (John 19"17-19) (Show large nails)
When Jesus was hung on the cross large nails had to be used to support
his weight. They were driven into his hands, wrists and feet.

"Then the soldiers, when they had crucified Jesus, took him garments,
and made four parts, to every soldier a part; and also his coat: now the
coat was without seam, woven from to top throughout. (Show Dice) They said
therefore among themselves, Let us not rend it, but cast lots for it, whose
it shall be: that the scriptures might be fulfilled, which saith, They
parted my raiment among them, and for my vesture they did cast lots. These
things therefore the soldiers did" (John 19:23-24)
"And when the sixth hour was come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour. And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying,Ö.. my God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? (Matt 27:46) Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst. (John 19:28) (Bring out drinking glass filled with white vinegar & offer child a drink) Now there was set a vessel full of vinegar: and they filled a spunge with vinegar, and put it upon hyssop, and put it to his mouth. When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost. (John 19:29-30) And the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to bottom.and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent: ( Matt 27:51) And when the centurion, which stood over against him, saw that he so cried out, and gave up the ghost, he said, Truly this man was the Son of God." Mark 15:37-39

Joseph, who also himself was Jesus' disciple. He went to Pilate, and begged
the body of Jesus. Then Pilate commanded the body to be delivered. (Show

it in a clean linen cloth, And laid it in his own new tomb, which he had
hewn out in the rock: and he rolled a great stone to the door of the sepulcher,
and departed." (Matt 27:57-60)
(Put up picture of Roman Soldier?)
"the chief priest and Pharisees came together unto Pilate, Saying Sir,
we remember that that deceiver said, while he was jet alive, After three
days I will rise again. Command therefore that the sepulchre be made sure
until the third day,Ö.Pilate said unto them, Ye have a watch: go your
way, make it as sure as ye cam. So they went, and made the sepulchre sure,
sealing the stone, and setting a watch." (Matt 27:62-66)
"In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre. (Put up Picture Angel with Mary) And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from Heaven, and came to rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it And the angel answered and said unto the woman, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord Lay." Matt 28:1-2 & 5-6 (Put up picture of Empty Tomb 62184) After Jesus' resurrection the disciples were gathered together discussing whether or not He could truly have risen from the dead. "And as they thus spake, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you. (Put up Picture Christ showing his prints OQ182 or Christ showing his Wounds OQ503) But they were terrified and affrighted, and supposed that they had seen a spirit. And He said unto them, Why are ye troubled? And why do thoughts arise in your hearts? Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself; "handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have. And when he had thus spoken, he shewed them his hands and his feet.
