Lesson:

Tell the children that you're going to learn about a very special talk that President Hinckley gave.

Tell them that you are going to teach them a trick to remember the things the prophet told us to do. Choose 6 children to help, line them up in front of the primary.

Read the sentence aloud to the children:

The Prophet Says Get Home Children. Have them repeat it.

Hold the bible over the 1st child's head - ask what it is. Ask if any of the children have ever seen a movie where someone is in court. They are asked to put their hand on the Bible and swear they will tell the....truth. Tell the children one of the things President Hinckley told us to be was "True". Talk about "true" with the children, what is means, etc... Have the first child flip their sign so the "True" side is showing.

Hold the picture of the child praying over the 2nd child. Ask what the picture portrays. Tell the children one of the things President Hinckley told us to be was "prayerful". Talk about the importance of prayer. Have the child flip their sign over so the "Prayerful" side is showing.

Hold the graduation cap over the 3rd child. Ask what it is. Tell the children one of the things President Hinckley told us to be was "smart". Talk about the importance of knowledge & education. Have the child flip their sign over so the "Smart" side is showing.

Hold the thank you card over the 4th child. Ask it is, when do we send thank you cards? Tell the children one of the things President Hinckley told us to be was "Grateful". Talk about the importance of being grateful. Have the child flip their sign over so the "Grateful" side is showing.

Hold the ear over the 5th child. Ask what it is, what is it used for, why is it important to listen to people, who are people we should REALLY listen to? Tell the children one of the things President Hinckley told us to be was humble". Talk about the importance of being humble, that is means to listen to Heavenly Father, the Holy Ghost, teachers, parents, etc.... Have the child flip their sign over so the "Humble" side is showing.

Hold the soap over the 6th child. Ask what it is. Tell the children one of the things President Hinckley told us to be was "clean". Talk about the importance of being clean, physically and spiritually. Have the child flip their sign over so the "Clean" side is showing.

Activity on the black board (brainstorm):

Ask the children what they can be Grateful for (write it down on the blackboard)

Next, how they can be Smart: (write it down on the blackboard) Next, how they can show they are clean: Next, how they can be True: Next, how they can be humble: Last but not least, how they can be Prayerful: After each be, ask the children if they know a song they can sing. If they can, sing it. If not, have your songleader prepare some songs.

If you don’t have a songleader, you can go to: http://www.eprimary.dk/prophet%2014%20president%20hinckely's%206%20be's.htm for some ideas.
