-
sign 2 front: "Prophet"
sign 2 back: "Prayerful"
-
sign 3 front: "Says"
sign 3 back: "Smart"
-
sign 4 front: "Get"
sign 4 back: "Grateful"
-
sign 5 front: "Home"
sign 5 back:"Humble"
-
sign 6 front: "Children"

Collect the following items:
-
A bible
-
A picture of a child praying
-
A graduation cap (the square funny-looking
things)
-
A thank you card
-
A pretend ear (make one out of cardboard,
or I used a Mr. Potato man ear)
-
A bar of soap
Lesson:
Tell the children that you're going to
learn about a very special talk that President Hinckley gave.
Tell them that you are going to teach them
a trick to remember the things the prophet told us to do. Choose 6 children
to help, line them up in front of the primary.
-
Give the 1st child the sign with "The" on
the front and "True" on the back. Have the "The" side showing so the children
can read it.
-
Give the 2nd child the sign with "Prophet"
on the front and "Prayerful" on the back. Have the "Prophet" side showing.
-
Give the 3rd child the sign with "Says" on
the front and "Smart" on the back. Have the "Says" side showing.
-
Give the 4th child the sign with "Get" on
the front and "Grateful" on the back. Have the "Get" side showing.
-
Give the 5th child the sign with "Home" on
the front and "Humble" on the back. Have the "Home" side showing.
-
Give the 6th child the sign with "Children"
on the front and "Clean" on the back. Have the "Children" side showing.
Read the sentence aloud to the children:
The Prophet Says
Get Home Children.
Have them repeat it.
-
Ask them what they think it could mean...
(lead them to the answer that it may mean getting home to Heavenly Father).
-
Tell the children that this sentence can help
them remember what President Hinckley told us in his very important talk.
Hold the bible over
the 1st child's head - ask what it is. Ask if any of the children have
ever seen a movie where someone is in court. They are asked to put their
hand on the Bible and swear they will tell the....truth. Tell the children
one of the things President Hinckley told us to be was "True". Talk about
"true" with the children, what is means, etc... Have the first child flip
their sign so the "True" side is showing.
Hold the picture of the child
praying over the 2nd child. Ask what the picture portrays. Tell
the children one of the things President Hinckley told us to be was "prayerful".
Talk about the importance of prayer. Have the child flip their sign over
so the "Prayerful" side is showing.
Hold the graduation
cap over the 3rd child. Ask what it is. Tell the children one of
the things President Hinckley told us to be was "smart". Talk about the
importance of knowledge & education. Have the child flip their sign
over so the "Smart" side is showing.
Hold the thank you
card over the 4th child. Ask it is, when do we send thank you cards?
Tell the children one of the things President Hinckley told us to be was
"Grateful". Talk about the importance of being grateful. Have the child
flip their sign over so the "Grateful" side is showing.
Hold the ear over
the 5th child. Ask what it is, what is it used for, why is it important
to listen to people, who are people we should REALLY listen to? Tell the
children one of the things President Hinckley told us to be was humble".
Talk about the importance of being humble, that is means to listen to Heavenly
Father, the Holy Ghost, teachers, parents, etc.... Have the child flip
their sign over so the "Humble" side is showing.
Hold the soap over
the 6th child. Ask what it is. Tell the children one of the things President
Hinckley told us to be was "clean". Talk about the importance of being
clean, physically and spiritually. Have the child flip their sign over
so the "Clean" side is showing.
-
Repeat the first sentence as you say each
of the words that are now showing. Have the children repeat the sentence,
then have them tell you what each of the 6 "be's" are as you hold up the
visual props.

prepare some songs.
If you don’t have a songleader, you can
go to: http://www.eprimary.dk/prophet%2014%20president%20hinckely's%206%20be's.htm
for some ideas.
