For the sharing time we did the gospel standards by making a poster with twelve doors.
On the front of each door was a key word for the standard and one that said standards.
To make the doors: The doors were made after putting two large poster board pieces together on the short side with tape. Each door was actually two pieces of coloured paper. One glued to the poster board with the standard written on it and the other only glued on one side with the key word written on it. We found it helped to keep the door closed by using a bit of tacky stuff on one of the corners. The doors were in rows of 3 x 4, 4 across and 3 down. My counselor made this and did a great job. She used four different colours of the bright paper. It was very eye catching.Inside the door was the gospel standard and under standard the theme for this month. We sang a song for each and the children guessed which one was the key word. I was amazed at how well they did. We actually did not get through all of the songs, as we wanted to go onto an activity. We then did a paper copy of the poster for each of them to take home.
Several parents and staff asked for a copy for their files and to do
FHE with. They cut and pasted to make the doors and then coloured them.
It was two sheets of paper. One with the words in the squares and the other
with the standards in the squares. We also made bookmarks with the standards
on them for the older children. Here is the list of words and songs we
used.
