Nephi: And it came to pass that I looked and beheld the city of Nazareth; and in the city of Nazareth I beheld a virgin, and she was exceedingly fair and white. And I looked and beheld the virgin again, bearing a child in her arms. And the angel said unto me:
Angel: behold the Lamb of God, yea, even the Son of the Eternal Father.
Sing: Silent Night (1st verse)
Narrator: Later the Nephites and the Lamanites were also told of the coming of Jesus by Samuel, a Lamanite prophet.
Samuel the Lamanite: Behold, I give unto you a sign; for five years more cometh, and behold, then cometh the Son of God to redeem all those who shall believe on his name. And behold, this will I give unto you for a sign at the time of his coming; for behold, there shall be great lights in heaven, in so much that in the night before He cometh there shall be no darkness, in so much that it shall appear unto man as if it was day. And behold, there shall a new star arise, such an one as ye never have beheld; and this also shall be a sign unto you.
Sing: Samuel the Lamanite (December 1988 Friend)
Narrator: Some of the people did believe Samuel's words, and they repented and were baptized. Nephi, grandson of Helaman, was a leader among those who believed. When five years had almost ended, the wicked unbelievers said that they would kill the righteous people if the signs prophesied by Samuel did not appear. Nephi prayed for the people who believed in Jesus Christ. He prayed all day, and into the night.
Voice of the Lord: Lift up your head and be of good cheer; for behold, the time is at hand, and on this night shall the sign be given and on the morrow come I into the world, to show unto the world that I will fulfill all that which I have caused to be spoken by the mouth of my holy prophets.
Narrator: and it came to pass in those days there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be taxed. And all went to be taxed, everyone into his own city. And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, unto Judea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem. To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child.

Narrator: And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them, and they were sore afraid. And an angel said unto them:
Angel: Fear not; for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger
Narrator: Suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the Heavenly Host praising God, and saying:
Angels: Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

Narrator: And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another:
Shepherds: Let us go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us.
Narrator: And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger.
Sing: Oh come all ye faithful (1st verse)
Narrator: And when they had seen it, they made know abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child. And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds. But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart. And the shepherds returned glorifying and praising God for all the things that they heard and seen, as it was told unto them.
Sing: Joy to the world (1st verse)
Narrator: Behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem. Saying:
Wise Men: Where is He that is born King of the Jews? For we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.
Narrator: And, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them till it came and stood over where the young child was. When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy. And when they were come into the house they saw the young child with Mary his mother and fell down, and worshipped him and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold and frankincense, and myrrh.
Sing: With wondering awe (1st verse)
